The Price of Cotton on the Rise

April 16th, 2010

The cost of all cotton based products are experiencing dramatic increases this year.

Over the last 12 months the cost of cotton has shot up by over 67%.

While this is wonderful news for cotton export countries such as India and the USA. Here in China this is currently leading to Chinese manufacturers having to dramatically increase their prices quoted to their customers in 2010.

Sources have confirmed that the World 2009/10 cotton ending stocks will slump almost 20% year-on-year because of lower output in top consumer China and increased consumption in India and Turkey among others

This will need to be factored into European business pricing levels for the remained of the year
